If you read my other journal you may've remembered Imam Latif's invite to hang out while he was here in Seattle-- well, this is what he was doing. It's really amazing. I suggest you watch!
I have so much respect & admiration for this man now. Also, I kept thinking - HE IS SO YOUNG - while watching the talk, and wanting to reassure him that the country accepts him really really!, except the latter isn't true for a lot of the people in this country, and he'd know that better than I would anyway.
When the WTC thing happened I had my head pretty firmly stuck in the sand, but I still remember how harsh it was for some of the people I knew, and couldn't help wincing at that part. I'm glad he had roommates that insisted on walking everywhere with him. It is really unfortunate that there was the need for that, and that a lot of things haven't changed much at all. But it's awesome what the lady said at the memorial.
Also, I really want to know what a guy is doing dragging around a surfboard in NYC? Who would drag around a surfboard in NYC? WHY?
