Ramadan Dia Tres: Shukr
Aug. 3rd, 2011 06:47 pmI have two scarves in this approximate golden color. One is a dipdyed sheer scarf with metallic edges. It's lovely but it wasn't working for me today. I usually wear an underscarf and I hadn't actually planned to today (I was hoping my pompadour would rock my world) and the sheerness and the strange shape of the scarf kept messing me up.
I wasn't generally digging the outfit either. I don't like pairing black with cream and gold (cream colored long sleeve shrug from Torrid, black maxi dress from eShakti). But! I did find a good way to take out so much volume around my neck. I feel like my head looks odd with so much volume-- I put a brooch at my nape. I'm sure it looked odd, but I don't care. If I were using a smaller scarf, maybe I could get away without it or maybe I could just wrap it tighter without feeling like I was suffocating, but that isn't what I was working with.
I'm wearing all black tomorrow, inshAllah, so hopefully I'll feel easier about my color palette.
All the color talk is more because I don't have much to say. I watched this khutbah from March this morning after fajr and thought it summed up my thoughts perfectly.
